We welcome both boys and girls of all abilities. Our juniors train in all disciplines and aspects of cricket and this enables them to represent the club in junior league and cup matches throughout the summer, with some of the stronger players being nominated to attend the Oxfordshire County Pathway trials at the end of the season.

We have a very successful and constantly growing junior section and enter teams into competitions at all age groups from U9s right up to U19s. We pride ourselves on the strength of our junior cricket and are regularly county champions in one league or another. This is a testament not only to the depth of our junior cricket but also an indication of the quality of our coaching. Many of our coaches have come through the junior ranks at the club themselves so can appreciate how important good, programmed training is and they enjoy passing on their love of cricket to the next generation.

Our older boys and girls are also encouraged get the chance to play adult league cricket on Saturdays, with our very popular SAS team (Sunday afternoon side) being a great way in to ‘adult cricket’.

The basis of all our coaching is encouragement and fun and in a welcoming and progressive atmosphere. There is lots of cricket on offer and you can choose to do as little or as much as you wish.

We are always looking for help running teams and organizing matches and assisting the junior programme so if you are able to help please contact us.

Girls Cricket

New girls only programme for 2022

At Cumnor All Stars and Dynamos are fully mixed groups. As the transition to hardball begins (usually age 10 and above), girls have historically been part of mixed, but boy dominated groups. In 2022 Cumnor will continue what we began in 2021 and have girls only training groups and teams.

Girls only training sessions for year 5s and upwards will in 2022 take place on Thursday nights from 5.30-6.45. These will be a mixture of soft and hardball as appropriate, but will very much be geared to developing hardball skills and match experience. (If in year 4 and wishing to join this group, speak to the Head of Youth Cricket.)

Girls will join the club as youth members (see here), and will be eligible to train at the Thursday girls-only sessions (assumed), or if they prefer at the mixed Wednesday sessions (please advise us), according to preference.

We will be entering teams in the Oxfordshire U11s softball and U13s hardball inter-club girls competitions. Girls are also eligible to play in the mixed team competitions (where regulations permit them to play both with their own age group, but also one age group younger).

Training starts Thursday 21st April and ends 21st July 2022.
5.30 to 6.45pm every Thursday.

Reception to Year 2

All Stars Cricket

All Stars Cricket is a highly successful initiative started in 2017 from the England and Wales Cricket Board aimed at providing children in reception to Year 3 (ages 5-8yrs) with a great first experience in cricket. The programme is delivered across England and Wales. It is a fun and active way to develop your child’s skills, and through our 10 week programme they will learn lots – as well as make new friends – in a safe and inclusive environment.

All girls and boys are welcome, and each registered child will receive a pack of cricket goodies including a cricket bat, ball, backpack, water bottle, personalised shirt and cap to keep so that they can continue their love of cricket when they go home.

Cumnor CC will be running two sessions of All Stars cricket as follows:
10 week programme starts Friday May 13th and ends July 15th 2022.
5.00pm to 6.00pm every Friday

Cost: £50. Free kit bag.

Please note that All Stars bookings are made through the ECB website here.. This site defaults to an 8 week programme – we are running a 10 week programme even though it states 8 weeks when you sign up.

Dynamos Cricket

Dynamos Cricket returns for 2022

After a great first year in 2021, Dynamos cricket will return in 2022.

This national programme from the ECB comes with a match play focussed game Countdown Cricket, as well as the enjoyment and fun experienced through All Stars, and previously Kwiks, at Cumnor CC.

This scheme is aimed primarily at school years 3 and 4, plus any year 2s who already have a couple of seasons of All Stars experience. It also provides a ‘way-in’ to cricket for all children up to the age of 10.

At Cumnor we love taking part in this action packed and fun filled programme, with its new competitive format of Countdown Cricket. Our thirteen sessions will start on Friday 29th April and will run between 6.15 and 7.30pm. Upon signing up, your child will receive a personalised Dynamos T Shirt, and all kit will be supplied by the club.

Bookings for the Dynamos programme are made via the ECB website: here.
