SAS V Oxford Hospitals Doctors – Joe Clapton scores a century!

Oxford Hosps Doctors 195
CUMNOR SAS 198/4. JOE CLAPTON 100 not out  P DU Plessis 52
A fantastic knock and 1st century for Joe CLAPTON was the highlight of an SAS victory yesterday at Park Field
We were asked to bowl by our oppo and with a very young bowling attack, bowled very well ably led by first time skipper Sam Herbert, Sam Down got a wicket with his first delivery, U13 player Noah Hilton – Dew bowled well and and Anabel, Max, Sam H and Krishan were all in the wickets.
Herbert shuffled his batting order and asked Pierre du P and young Clapton to get us started.   What a great call it proved to be as both batsman played majestically sending the ball racing to all parts of the field and in some cases, out of the field..
An opening stand of 148 saw us break the back of the Doctors bowling, Clapton retired after reaching his century.  Nonetheless, a great knock and a sign of things to come…it was left to the middle order to see Sas over  the line which they did with the loss of 4 wkts.
A great performance from a young team,  well done to all especially to Joe on a great achievement..
